Does insurance cover windshield replacement in Florida?
If your policy includes comprehensive coverage, Florida law generally prevents the comprehensive deductible from being applied to covered windshield damage. Coverage still depends on the policy and the insurer’s claim decision.
Florida’s windshield-deductible rule
Florida Statute 627.7288 says that deductible provisions do not apply to windshield damage under a motor-vehicle policy issued in Florida by an authorized insurer when the policy provides comprehensive or combined additional coverage. The rule concerns the windshield—not every piece of auto glass—and does not create comprehensive coverage when a policy does not already include it.
What to confirm before scheduling
- Whether the vehicle has active comprehensive coverage.
- Whether the reported damage is covered under the policy.
- Whether the insurer requires authorization, photos, inspection or a claim number.
- Whether calibration, moldings or related work are included in the approved claim.
- Whether the policy has different terms for side, quarter or rear glass.
How the claim process works
Provide the vehicle, policy and damage details requested by your insurer. Windshield Zone can help verify coverage and bill the insurer directly when a claim is eligible and authorized. No work begins until the service scope, price and payment responsibility are confirmed.
What information helps
Have the named insured, policy number, vehicle VIN, date of damage and a description of what happened available. Never submit private insurance documents through an unverified channel.
